Ok so everyone's got that one friend who loves warning you about "losing yourself" when you get married... eye roll Well guess what? My reality check came with a totally different receipt. My 90s inspired streetwear styling journey is proof that marriage isn't about dimming your light – it's about shining even brighter!
Ya know what's funny? This morning I threw on this ridiculous fish-print shirt, channeling that 90s inspired streetwear styling energy that's been calling my name lately - like, the kind that makes people do a double-take at the grocery store - and Mr. P just grinned and said "that's so you." Not "maybe wear something else?" or "isn't that a bit much?" Just pure acceptance of my chaotic fashion choices. That's the thing about finding your person... they don't try to tone you down, they help turn up your volume.
Real talk - since putting that ring on my finger, I've actually gotten BOLDER? My 90s inspired streetwear styling has become more experimental, more ME. Like, who knew marriage would give me the guts to finally start that blog I've been dreaming about forever! There's something weirdly empowering about having someone in your corner who's just as excited about your random 3 AM ideas as you are. Mr. P's basically become my personal hype man for every wild outfit combination, minus the air horn (thank goodness).
Marriage has turned out to be this wild plot twist where instead of shrinking my world, it's blown it wide open. When I'm putting together these 90s inspired streetwear looks, mixing unexpected pieces like my fish-print shirt with grey trousers and that cropped jean jacket, it's not about becoming "Mrs. Somebody" and calling it a day. Nope - it's more like gaining a permanent adventure buddy who's down to explore all the random chapters you wanna write in your style story. Sometimes we're on the same page, sometimes we're reading totally different books, but we're always sharing our favorite parts with each other.
Listen, Mr. P (if you're creeping on my blog again) - thanks for being the kind of partner who gets excited when I come home with yet another "90s streetwear find of the week." For letting me ramble about my style dreams until 2 AM, and for showing me that fashion, like space, is all about exploring new frontiers (even though I still can't name more than like, three constellations... sorry!)
So here's my messy truth: marriage isn't the period at the end of your sentence - it's more like an exclamation point that makes everything, including your style, a little more exciting! BTW - what's your take? Has a relationship ever surprised you by pushing your personal style toward growth instead of away from it? Drop your story below, I'm nosey and love reading the comments! ✨💫 (p.s. - yes, I'm still that girl who uses too many emojis and rocks 90s inspired streetwear, married life hasn't changed that either! 😂)
